Low Self-Esteem

Self-esteem relates to the value we place on ourselves.

Some people can be generally confident but have occasions of self-doubt particularly in challenging situations. Others feel tormented with low self-esteem. Many fall between these extremes.

Clients with low self-esteem will often be self-critical, judgemental and generally negative about themselves and their achievements. They may ignore their own strengths preferring to focus upon perceived weaknesses. They may find it difficult to relax and make high demands upon themselves. Such thinking can impact upon day-to-day living and thoughts about the future.

Learning to identify situations which trigger negative thoughts and impact behaviour is enlightening for many clients.
